it's been a while...

So, last few weeks have been pretty interesting.

I have been a red head, a blonde and now a brunette.

Job searched my arse off; resulting in a job at beaver brooks (not the most glamorous granted, but it's weekly pay and enough to keep the wolf from the door).

Partied into the early morning far too many times with my buddies "the wreckin' crew" as nicknamed by Jamie "Achillies" Riach.

And even went a trip down to Mildenhall (where you ask? a tiny little village in Suffolk complete with Americans and huskys)

Returning to Scotland, perhaps more bored with it than before I left.

But last night's festivities were fun, think fake blood mixed with beer and you get the idea ( love Halloween more than any holiday).

The next week looks promising too.

Never Say Die on Tuesday, Whitechapel on Thursday, fireworks then out and about on Friday and starting work on Sunday!

It's all going down now eh? Oh and I get a week of training in Edinburgh the week after. SWEET.

Day Four of the Job Hunt;

WHAT A BABE? Yes, I gave in to Jeremy Kyle.

30 job applications, 2 sort of interviews, and one meeting with destiny (or well the job centre).

I must say, my misuse of the post-it note over this time is well documented in my wee folder filled with lists and phone numbers.

At least through all of this I have London (or well Bury St.Edumunds) to look forward to :)! Can't wait to see Tanya and have some new adventures in a new place. Got my tickets through and everything!!

Joining The Ranks Of The Unemployed.

All I can say is... I hope if I do one day become homeless, I can be as fierce are the America's Next Top Model girls a few seasons back!

In the mean time my life consists of too much Facebook, ridiculous amounts of emails to stores where I don't possess the right "look" and of course the big one; printing enough CV's and cover letters to reinstate a quarter of the rainforest.

This is all in the quest for a full-time job. Let's not forget. A full-time job I will moan about constantly until the end of time. But a job none the less.

In the mean time my main concerns stand at... Should I go to the job centre and get the little evil sign on book as a hopeful way to make some cash - maybe. Should I tell my parents - maybe. Should I give in and watch Jeremy Kyle - NEVER!

Looks dead good doesn't it? Even got a policeman guarding it! The things we do for money eh??

forth time lucky;

I wish it was Halloween every day. Would be a good excuse to buy any of these. At almost five hundred for a corset, there would have to be a great excuse.

imaginary wedding planning;

So as bridesmaid for my big sister I keep looking at wedding dresses, and websites to help plan and other similar things. However little old single me keeps getting distracted and planning my own (non-existent) big day! So the cute quirky vintage elements in all these images are almost perfection, if only they would work in Scotland! Our weather is far too unreliable to even contemplate an outside wedding!

my new warehouse crushes;

Fairisle Blanket Cardi £60
Nomadic Traveller

Okay so Debenhams is rarely too cold, but late one Thursday night it was freezing! So grabbing the nearest jumper to me I threw this beauty on; unfortunately for the Royal Bank of Scotland it was love at first wear. Because if this winter is anything like the last everyone will need one of these! Love Love Love.

Swallow Print Dress £60
Wonderland

So I haven't even seen this in the "flesh" never mind tried it on, but as a taste of things to come winter is looking pretty damn fine. My manager's return from the inspiration day in London sparked my interest; the theme "wonderland" which has a 40's feel and is inspired by Alice and Wonderland (think prints similar to Miu Miu this summer) is what I'm looking forward to most about the new Autumn/Winter stock. And if this dress is anything to go by, I am positively peeing my pants in anticipation!

Lace One Shoulder Dress £40
Gothic Dandy

OH MY. I first spotted this little beauty last week and I was mega excited at the prospect of even going into Glasgow and trying it on but on Tuesday (a day of horrible 20% off green promo tickets) I opened the first box of delivery to find my beautiful dress lying on top. After a sneaky wee trying on session it has been concluded that it is gorgeous on, very very reasonably priced and I had to go down two dress sizes!! This is my party dress of the winter :)

lingerie obsession part 3;

The excitement I felt when I saw new stock online was possibly equal to Christmas, and then I realised that a) I have no money to buy anything and b) there is no way in hell I will look as good as the model in them!

Scrap that, can I just be her?

Fur Coat, No Knickers

Well I would have no knickers if I bought the new leopard faux fur coat in 'Warehouse' at £200 quid!
Even with my 40% staff discount, way out of reach for this poor girl. But a girl can dream...

However after trawling the internet Topshop have this baby, under half the price at 98 as well :)! Not too sure about the double breasted buttons and lets face it, £98 is still a bit out of reach for little miss bank charges.

FINALLY; price range attained. New Look; not one of my favourite stores or websites for that matter but this coat is actually quite nice, and £39.99 (don't understand why things can't be £40) so good value, even though the other two are much nicer.

This one shall have to do :)

To say that this winter, (yes I realise it's August but if you looked out the window at any point today you could be mistaken in thinking it was November!) I want a leopard print coat, so when it is 582349816 degrees below freezing I'll be toasty :)

shoe crushes;

Even if I could afford all the shoes I need (want), I would need to build a new wardrobe as it is already full of shoes. These range from 700 quid to a nice'n'easy 45! Really enjoying peep toes at the moment along with studding and built up decorations; God bless the man who invented the high heel.

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN
Adore these; so girlie and yet rock chic at the same time. Almost perfect for me, I say also because with a price tag of £755 I'd have to sell my soul to the devil.

MCQUEEN
Oh you god. The drama, the sheer coolness, the "oh my god". BUT it's such a big shame that I'm too poor and again would have to sell my soul. (£695)

KG by Kurt Geiger
A little more affordable; still out of my league though! Not sure if I like these trashy ones or the nice nude ones with lace bow. Goddamn you House of Fraser for having such choice. (£160)

Faith at Debenhams
IN THE PRICE RANGE. Finally, got these into my work and they are fantastic, so gorgeous. Remind me of the Dolce and Gabbana hair clips from last summer! AND they are only £44.50!!!!

Faith at Debenhams
As I mentioned, STUDS ♥ love love love. And again in my price range! Lucky me as they are only £49!! Plus 10% staff discount. OH YES.

KG by Kurt Geiger
Although; I would prefer these. Would totally stand up to a scottish winter if you ask me! And I adore the tassel detail at the side the trashy gold look makes me happy. Bit much at £170, although they are called "Kitty".

hey there, you've changed.

So after twenty years of being a blonde I made the shock decision to dye my hair! "Light Auburn" went a little redder than I guess it was supposed to... As I naturally have quite light blonde hair. But it has made a huge change in how I feel about myself, I didn't think it would make much difference!
Just goes to show, blondes don't have more fun! ;)
But what I'm really excited about is Jenna's proposal to dye it even redder and buy me extensions to match; although my mother's reaction to this might not be too positive!

For £6.99 I'm pleased at how well this has turned out, I picked 'Perfect 10' because I kept seeing adverts for it on television; I must agree with them the comb applicator really did make it easier. Especially as I hadn't coloured my hair before! All round good buy!

Here's a photo of my hair, just so you see how red it went :)

Warehouse Baby ♥

So it's that time of month again, time for the new work uniform. Luckily for me everything i got last time is stil current so I have loads to chose from for my one 4 hour shift a week! As I'm standing on the floor looking at the stock I'm drawn to the "60's Animal" theme pack, which has a vintage feel (as the name would suggest) and it is mostly made up of smart dresses all of which are to die for! I have two of my favourites as uniform;

"Sunray Pleat Dress"; this is amazing on, and is one of those dresses when you put it on, suddenly your a total girl flouncing about and walking on your tippy-toes. Another good thing is that it doesn't need ironed and dries in a few hours a great quality for a work outfit!

"Ethereal Ruffle Dress"; This one was love at first sight, such a nice cut as it's empire line and sleeves are a great cover up without being too much. As i have just dyed my hair "light auburn" the colour (even though it's just cream) looked fantastic and really quite "Florence and the Machine". Its even machine washable, again a great result. Let's just hope I don't get red lipstick all over it!

-Both of these dresses are only £55 pounds and available from Warehouse

again with the lingerie.

These gorgeous photos are from atyen gasson. I need to stop "shopping" online, these aren't quite as expensive as Agent Provocateur and look more vintage - which let's face it, is pretty awesome. I love the model in these too, she's gorgeous (and has nice eyebrows) and the flowers in her hair are lush. It's refreshing to see someone with pale skin and a more curvy figure in the modelling industry!

glorified band practice.

So tonight I went down to The Captain's Rest armed with my Disney Princess lunch tin; to see my friend Dan's band, 'The Afterparty'. Upon walking into the venue I bumped into an old friend who moved away months ago up on tour with another band on the bill ('Through Colour'); a good omen towards a good night? Yes. If only the heavens would close and the rain would piss off!

After chilling for a few hours, doing some facebook spamming trying (in vain) to promote said gig, a few cheap & nasty beers were slung back and the festivities started!

The first band on were actually really good, I was the only person in the room who wasnt actually "on tour" and hadn't heard them, but was pleasantly surprised! Even though they wouldn't play Rhianna for me.

The Afterparty were as predicted, good. They even played a cover of early 00's boyband 5ive or 5 or Five (or however they spelled it) which was for lack of a better word; SICK. Mimi Soya were good too; although Nic refused to do the macarena(spelling again?) like we had planned.

So after quite an eventful evening of banter, beer and bands "designated driver" GIJOE took the long drive to Maryhill, then back to town, then to East Kilbride, then back to where ever they went.... god only knows.

I have also collected a "AAA" pass, an Honour Over Glory lanyard, a drum stick, and a CD.
Good Haul if I don't say so myself.

you have to admit you have a problem;

Before it gets any better?
WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT THEORY.
Lots of things fix themselves eg:

your pinky toe mends itself without help, or admitting to any other toe it's broken.

On breaking a nail you don't have to tell your finger to make it grow, the same applies here for hair.

Cuts and Bruises get better all on their own.

So be a man suck it up and don't admit you have a problem; it will probably fix itself and you won't have the embarrassing backlash that usually comes from "admitting you have a problem"

Bag-O-Scraps;

So after my shipment came from American Apparel last week, so with the insane amount of fabric which came with my 'Bag-O-Scraps' me and Jenna set about making some swah-eeet garms. But not before we caused absolute chaos in my living room!

Jenna made a gorgeous woolen headband with a bow and elastic backing! It looked great on and only took her about 5 minutes to sew together!

She also made a bodess/corset from about 8 or 10 long strips of fabric, this took forever and still isn't even finished but still looks good! Surprising quality as well given it was made out of self-confessed "scraps".

I made these two headbands with bows :) the black one is on a braided lyrca band made from long bits plaited together and then tied & frayed. The floral one is a lot larger and just on a length of ribbon.

I also made a circle scarf from several long pieces stitched together, it turned out smaller than i had hoped but still looks cute (plus it's the nicest shade of purple).

This is the thing I'm most proud of, my cropped waistcoat! Took forever to make but was totally worth it, stitched loads of small 'Africa' print pieces together to make the red patterned material the shapes of the pieces draped really well so just left a raw edge. I used a few long strips of jersey to make the back (light grey) and the same material again to make the braided belt, in the same way as the headband above except on the belt there is a few lumps where i had to sew lengths together!

Overall, for the £8 this cost, BARGAIN! Plus all the fun we had making and coming up with crazy ideas ;)

Friends;

Apparently people don't watch Friends in America; HOW CAN THIS BE?!
My habit is a three episode a day one, and a drunken friend (ironic?) told me that e4 were going to stop showing it! Devastated is an understatement...

The one where everybody finds out... "do they know that we know that they know that we know?" one of my favourite ever episodes :)! But it's sad as well cause 'ugly naked guy' moves out :( every single time i see it i totally crack up just for the back and forth of the "do they know that we know" okay, i'm easy amused.

The one with Ross' Grant... This is my second favourite not because of the awkwardness of Ross and Charlie's situation but because of the fight between Rachel and Monica over who 'gets' to keep the painting of Gladys phoebe made! With hilarious outcomes and late night pranks on each other AND JOEY! love it.

Honestly if e4 stop showing Friends I will be lost.

Lingerie;

The last few days have been boring, so I started "online shopping" this is never a good plan; I have now fallen in love with far too much expensive lingerie which on my wages will NEVER become a reality. :( Damn you Agent Provacateur!! I'm also finding that "Bridal" lingerie is always the prettiest. So while every girl fantasises about their wedding dress, I am sitting designing the perfect underwear combination in my mind. Do you think that you wear it underneath your wedding dress all day? or just change? If you wear it underneath I definitely want two sets. Indulgent? Me? Never.
